The Assofwi is an association located in Vieux Habitants in Guadeloupe. Created in 2003, it counts in 2018 50 producers members spread over all the Guadeloupe representing an area of approximately 250 ha planted in vegetable diversification, mainly arboriculture and market gardening. It is chaired by Mr. Frédéric Bourseau.
It occupies an experimental site of 14 ha of which 6.8 ha have been certified Organic Farming since 2017. The rest is made available to small producers with little land.
The objective of the structure is to develop sustainable arboreal practices and promote fruit diversification in Guadeloupe. The activities are divided into four parts:
- the technical and administrative support of the members;
- training (since 2010);
- experimentation with sustainable agricultural practices;
- the reception of the public and the direct sale of the products of the soil.
As part of the Recavaca project, a nursery of cocoa plants will be installed in their plots.
