These Structural Funds (European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Social Fund (ESF), European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), European Fund for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (EMFF) are granted to the Guadeloupe Region by multiannual programs in force since 1989.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The aim is to reduce development gaps between the different regions of Europe and to correct the constraints related to the status of the European Union&rsquo;s ultra-peripheral region attributed to Guadeloupe and the other overseas departments. These constraints are explained by various factors such as the remoteness of the European continent, insularity, isolation which creates a situation of isolation and also by the narrowness of the local market and their economic dependence on a small number of products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With these funds, Europe wants to contribute to enhancing the assets of these territories and to realizing the growth opportunities they present, in order to make them attractive and competitive regions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More than 1 billion euros of European funds have been allocated to Guadeloupe over the 2014-2020 period. These funds must be mobilized on the following strategic axes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ili-indent\">\n<li>Improvement of accessibility to the single market (transport, setting up of ICT, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Increased competitiveness (modernization and diversification of economies);<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening regional integration;<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening the social dimension (creating employment, fighting poverty, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Integration of the fight against climate change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Guadeloupe Region has been the managing authority of the Interreg IV Caribbean Operational Program (OP) for the period 2007-2013 and will also be for the period 2014-2020. This program is financed by ERDF and EDF (European Development Fund) funds<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Caribbean INTERREG OP allows to finance multiple projects of cooperation between the Caribbean territories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Guadeloupe region is the managing authority for European funds for which Guadeloupe benefits for its economic, social and cultural development.
