AGED- Association Guadeloupe Equitable and Sustainable<\/h1>\n

Founded in March 2011 in order to participate in the design of a fairer economic, social and environmental world, our association seeks to promote Sustainable Development and Fair Trade within the Caribbean Region and in particular in Guadeloupe.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Why ?<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

The idea is to support and promote access to the international market for artisans and small producers (often marginalized and challenged by large commercial groups) with the aim of improving their standard of living and achieving greater equity in world trade, while contributing to sustainable development.<\/p>\n

There is also the desire to participate in the economic development of certain regions or countries in difficulty, while stimulating agriculture in Guadeloupe (principle of cooperation).<\/p>\n

How ?<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

By setting up different actions:<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Consumer and public awareness raising for responsible consumption * (\u00ab\u00a0Fair Trade Fortnight\u00a0\u00bb organized in May) ;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Creating spaces for cultural exchange and learning ;
    \n<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Creation of marketing and distribution channels for fair trade and organic farming products ;<\/li>\n
  • Development of commercial relations with the small producers of the Caribbean Region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    But what is responsible consumption?<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

    \u00ab\u00a0Responsible consumption\u00a0\u00bb means:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Learn to read a label, know how to recognize an environmental label and learn about the origin of a product;
      \n<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Encourage good consumer practices, and inform and educate those around you;
      \n<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Consume fair trade products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Responsible consumption is then and above all a thoughtful purchase approach<\/strong>. It is also to participate in companies’ involvement in equitable and sustainable development<\/strong>. The consumer becomes a knowledgeable and committed player, in particular by reflecting on the environmental and social consequences of his purchasing act.<\/p>\n

      Cocoa:<\/strong> Cooperation project with the region of Grand Anse in Haiti; Development and marketing of organic fair trade cocoa, a Caribbean and global ambition!<\/p>\n

      Cotton:<\/strong> Cooperation Project with the Nordeste Region of Brazil; Creation of a fair trade organic cotton clothing sector from Brazil and colored with plant materials of Guadeloupe origin.<\/p>\n
